  • Technology Program for Children with Disabilities
    A program to assist youth with verbal communication is being developed by the Burton Blatt Institute (BBI) at Syracuse University as a result of a recent donation by a couple whose son uses eye gaze technology to communicate. Communication Hope through Assistive Technology (CHAT) will be designed to empower nonverbal youth through in-person and virtual communities, nationwide awareness and advocacy.

  • TACE Partners with Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society (RESNA) on a New Web Portal Offering Assistive Technology Solutions for Employers http://atconnects.com/employers
    The AT for Employer/Business Web Portal features a wealth of solutions for businesses, employers and those who work with employers to recruit, hire and retain jobseekers with disabilities.

  • Effective Vocational Rehabilitation Services for Military Veterans
    The Institute for Veterans and Military Families at Syracuse University (IVMF) recently published a research brief on VR services related to competitive employment for veterans. The study examined programs for college-trained and non-college trained veterans. The brief discusses implications of the findings and recommendations for rehabilitation counseling professionals working with veterans with disabilities.
  • TACE Co-hosts Voc Rehab & Community Partners’ Summit on Asset Development
    On October 10, TACE co-sponsored the “Asset Development Summit – Key to the Future” in Louisville, Kentucky, bringing together over 60 members of the Kentucky asset building and disability communities to jointly build economic self sufficiency for persons with disabilities. As a result of the Summit, concrete steps have already been taken or planned to promote further state and local action. TACE also sponsored related training for 40 VR staff, and will continue to work with the Kentucky Office of Vocational Rehabilitation to integrate asset building strategies and community partnerships into their services to jobseekers with disabilities.
  • TACE Presents at National Summit on Program Evaluation
    TACE presented its Evaluation of the Impact of Pilot Projects on State VR Agencies’ Delivery Systems at the 5th Annual Summit on Vocational Rehabilitation Program Evaluation and Quality in San Antonio, TX. TACE’s presentation, linking the pilot projects to successful integration of emerging employment practices in VR systems, was well-received. The Summit, held September 5-6, 2012, was attended by nearly 200 vocational rehabilitation leaders, program managers, and research and evaluation experts.
