Francisco Alvarado is the Assistant Director for the Illinois Department of Human Services' Division of Rehabilitation Services (DHS/DRS), where he has over 20 years experience and expertise working in areas of vocational rehabilitation. Mr. Alvarado received his Doctor of Medicine degree for the University Autonoma of Guadalajara and Masters Degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling from the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT). He has developed policies/procedures/standards for community groups and organizations, specifically those servicing the community, to improve the quality of services for people with disabilities. Francisco directs and implements programs for people with disabilities. He provides the coordination and support for DHS/DRS and its three schools. Francisco is the Chairperson of North Eastern Illinois University Masters in Rehabilitation advisory council, and is the Department of Human Services / Division of Rehabilitation Services/Acting Manager of Hispanic Services. He has demonstrated his commitment to improving the quality of life for people with disabilities with a life long interest in developing and implementing strategic program intervention. Francisco coordinates consultations with the Latino community and its advocacy groups, the medical community and other government departments. Francisco's prior experience as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor and Office supervisor for the Division of Rehabilitation Services makes him a unique resource in the area of employment of people with disabilities.
