During this webinar, you will be familiarized with career climbing and the impact workplace politics has on this process as it relates to employees with disabilities. A definition of workplace politics will be provided along with an explanation of the political games commonly played, the types of political players in the work setting, and the effect these games have on an employee's adjustment into a job. You will learn about work settings that are more inclined to have politics over others and how this information can be beneficial to know when working with individuals with disabilities. A case study specific to an employee with a disability is used to illustrate the manner in which politics occur and strategies that can be used to navigate successfully through in order to achieve career advancement and promotion. Employer strategies for managing politics and tactics for broaching the subject as a rehabilitation professional are provided to you as a way to encourage employer consultation on this topic.
